How Hypnotherapy can help you

Contact me by telephone or email to make an appointment for a consultation and to ask any questions you may have. If you want help to stop smoking, we will simply arrange a single consultation lasting about two hours. In all other cases, we will make an appointment for an initial consultation which will last up to one hour. This consultation is entirely free of charge and without further commitment on your part. At this consultation, we will be able to discuss what help you want and how this can best be provided. We will also take this opportunity to explore how the working of the mind is contributing to the difficulty you experience, and you will be given a cd or tape to help you to relax until we meet again. You will not be hypnotised at this initial consultation.

I should like here to emphasise some features of hypnotherapy which contribute to the unique benefits of the treatment:

Privacy

If your treatment involves revisiting in memory or imagination some unpleasant event, you need not necessarily share the detail with me. Within many of the techniques and processes available to us, only you may need briefly to revisit within your mind a circumstance which has contributed to your anxiety.

Speed of Effectiveness

Hypnotherapy is a brief, solution-focused therapy, which means that our aim is to achieve successful outcomes as quickly and efficiently as possible, rather than to dwell on irreversible, often distant, causes.

Wide Range of Applications

This page includes an illustrative list of some of the many problem areas where hypnotherapy can help. The fact that hypnotherapy can help with so many types of problem reflects two key factors. First, excessive anxiety lies at the root of the bulk of psychological difficulties. Second, the precise way in which I use hypnotherapy varies with each client. This is why the initial consultation is so important, and why there will normally be a gap, typically of one week, between our initial meeting and our first session at which hypnosis will be used. During that time, I will develop an approach to your problem personally tailored to your unique needs.
